Meta Introduces Paid Verification Badges on Instagram and Facebook

Following in the footsteps of Twitter, American company Meta has started offering their own blue verification badge for a fee.

The verification badges on Facebook and Instagram will now be a paid feature, according to the BBC. However, this service will initially be limited to some countries before being rolled out later.

How much does Meta verified Instagram and Facebook cost?

According to the BBC, the blue badge on Instagram and Facebook will cost £9.99 per month and will initially be limited to the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia. The amount will be charged monthly and not just as a one-time fee.

It is expected that Meta will expand the paid blue verification badge service in the near future.

Meta also stated that those with the blue badge will enjoy additional protection for their accounts.

This move by Meta follows Twitter's implementation of paid verification badges, which was introduced by Elon Musk in November  2022.
